The Villa Les Cèdres is an 18,000 square foot property in the south of France, with a manor house with 14 bedrooms and 35 acres of land, built about 187 years.
It once belonged to the Belgian King Leopold II, who bought the splendid spot and the coast of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in 1904, after exorbitantly profiting from his wild exploitation of the Congo Freistaates.
It was previously owned by the mayor of Villefranche-sur-Mer and served as an olive grove.
The estate of Great Europe, including cultivated lawns, 15,000 plants and 20 greenhouses with rare tropical vegetation.
The palatial house is located in Ballaal, at Olympic-sized swimming pool and a golf course within 30 km.
Among the close neighbors are the British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.
It is now owned by the Italian burner Davide Campari-Milano SpA, Campari and Grand Marnier liqueur.
It has previously been spoken of as being worth about £900million, but Fabio Di Fede – the managing director of Société des Produits Marnier Lapostolle – told Bloomberg that price tag is ‘absurd rumour and folly’.
